travel series: What to Wear When You’re Traveling

Travel is the bane of our existence but at the same time its probably one of the best things in the world. When I travel from India to the US and back, I go by plane which usually involves a connecting flight somewhere here or there, or theres a possible train or shuttle situation to my final destination. Plus, the transit time is around 24-36 hours, again depending on my flights. Basically, it’s a lot of traveling. And that means a lot of time spent in big airports and cold planes carrying around heavy bags. Since I’m going to be traveling for the next month or so I thought I would do a travel series, just a few tips and tricks that I like to use and a variety of topics. Hopefully this series will help you on your next vacation!

inspired by: Kendall Jenner’s style

Kendall Jenner: supermodel working for incredible brands like Chanel and Marc Jacobs, and member of the Kardashian/Jenner family (although we won’t hold it against her).

It can’t be denied, girlfriend has great taste in fashion, and why wouldn’t she considering the brands she works for! But often times she wears clothes which, while gorgeous, often have a high price tag not many of us can afford. But there are plenty of substitutes! And that’s what I aim to provide here. A capsule of clothing inspired by Kendall’s wardrobe.

a short break

This is just a quick post to let you know that I will be going on a break until June 8th, as I currently have exams going on. I will be back and posting regularly after that as I have a few food reviews, fashion related posts, and DIYs planned. Plus, it will finally be the monsoon (!!!) so expect some rainy day themed outfits!

how to wear: a tie as inspired by Princess Diana

For those of you who are unaware, about a week ago, the exact tie pictured above went up for auction, and amidst the excitement regarding the new movie about Princess Diana’s life, the tie was expected to fetch $4700. After reading an article about the auction, I was immediately struck by how contemporary the tie itself was and how I would easily be willing to wear this item even now, almost 20 years later! So, below I’ve provided a few options regarding ties that won’t make you look like a little girl in boy’s clothes! 🙂

J. Crew Chambray Floral Tie
I love how this tie looks formal, yet relaxed all at once. I think it would be so easy to pair this tie over a basic white button-down along with a pair of light denims with the cuffs rolled up twice along with a navy blazer thrown on top. Perhaps a pair of black flats would complete the look since you want the tie to be the focal point.

J. Crew Silk Cambridge Tie in Large Dot
This tie I would want to wear with a white button-down, a pair of black tailored suit shorts, and black oxfords or black loafers. Here, the star of the show is the gorgeous spotted tie so I think pairing it with the stark black and white highlights just that.

J. Crew Silk Tie in Small Embroidered Weight Lifters
I picked this tie, simply because I think it’s so funny! This tie I would pair with a baby pink shirt and black trousers with perhaps a pair of simple black pumps (a la Kate Middleton). Even though the outfit it simple, I like the idea of juxtaposing the baby pink with the weightlifters.

I hope this helps anyone who wants to wear a tie but doesn’t know how!

XOXO
